Trees Have Some Messed Up Dreams.
This spot for Rocky Mountain Power is a well produced piece that we thoroughly enjoy watching. However, we have some reservations about the premiss of the piece. "Trees have dreams," is the theme and we dig that. Interesting idea, fun to consider. But at about the 0:36 mark, things take a turn. Trees dream of growing up to be chopped down (killed) and made into something else. That's a bit messed up right? It's not good enough that trees grow up to be hundreds of years old, scrub the atmosphere of deadly C02, and create homes for millions of indigenous species? A tree's truest aspiration is to be murdered and carved into a table, or a piano, or a toothpick. Maybe we're the only ones that think something's a little strange about suicidal trees.
